Distict health boards are responsible for overseeing the delivery of health and disability services in their district.
The Board, which has a membership of up to 11 people, has strategic oversight of the organisation. The Board is partly elected and partly appointed.

Four members, including the Chair, are appointed by the Health Minister.
The remaining seven members are elected by those registered to vote in the district. (See Waikato DHB district map )
Each Board must have at least two Maori members, whom the Minister will appoint if they are not elected.

Voting opens on Monday 19 September and closes at noon Saturday 8 October.
There are 7 vacancies for elected members of the board.
