Coming to Te Kuiti Hospital

Te Kuiti is a rural community hospital just over one hour (86 kilometres) south by road from Hamilton on State Highway 3. It is situated on a small hill on the west side of the town.

Family Health Team appointment

Physiotherapists, occupational therapists, district nurses, social workers, dietitians and public health nurses are members of the Family Health Team based at Te Kuiti Hospital. You will be referred to them for an appointment which may be at their place or at yours.

  • Check your appointment letter to see where the appointment is.
  • If our staff are visiting you, remember to
    • restrain and secure dogs
    • do not smoke during our visits
    • advise us if there are any hazards that may be around your home or workplace.
  • If you cannot attend your appointment, please contact the Family Health Team as soon as possible.

Visiting information

Visiting hours are 11am - 1.30pm and 4 - 8pm daily.

  • If you have a cold, diarrhoea, viral illness or are generally feeling unwell, please do not visit patients.
  • All gang regalia, patches or gang colours must be removed.
  • Children under 14 must be supervised and accompanied by an adult.
  • Business visitors must register at our enquiries desk and obtain a Waikato DHB visitors’ pass.

Visitor facilities

  • The hospital does not have a cafeteria; however there are water coolers in each area, and access to a snack and soft drink vending machine.
  • (Inpatients and Day Surgical patients only have access to tea making facilities).
  • A variety of eating places are a short drive from the hospital in the town or nearby. 
  • Visitor parking is available on site, at no charge.
  • There is no ATM/cash machine at the hospital, but there are ATMs and banks in Te Kuiti township.
