The Women’s Health Education Team offer a variety of courses to keep your practice current, competent and compliant in accordance with NZ Midwifery Council and NZ Nursing Council standards and to improve quality care and outcomes within our DHB. We organise all the compulsory education that is required to maintain your annual APC, including Adult and Maternal Resus, Neo-natal Resus, Technical Skills Workshops, Breastfeeding and Preceptor courses.

We also offer a variety of great study opportunities to enhance your practice with days like the Fetal Surveillance/CTG Study days, where we have experts from RANZCOG Australia come to the Waikato once a year to keep our practitioners up to date; and PROMPT – a multidisciplinary action packed emergency drill day to improve and update your critical thinking and many other informative courses throughout the year for nurses and midwives.

We are able to facilitate and guide you, along with the Professional Development unit, into post-grad and tertiary study to further your career and areas of interest.

We arrange education for not only our DHB staff, but also our community midwives, doctors and run a Midwifery First Year in Practice Program for new graduate Midwives.

We are friendly, available and approachable, so please email us anytime to query or book into any courses we have available on the following timetable.

If what you want is not there, then make a time to come and see if we can make it happen for you.
